The Modern-Day Fisherman
He/she leaves the corporate world/college to pursue his/her passionate dreams - a business career for life he/she likes to believe! It's not all about how well in $ he/she is going to make, but is how and when he/she is going to establish and discover his/her own style and potential of making a living effectively to support his/her lifestyle the way he/she fancies; I call it WEALTH!
That leads to "the modern-day fisherman story....". Before becoming one, he/she has/is about to please the one & only customer (the company/boss) and get his "fish" at one particular spot. Today, everyone is his/her choice of customer to serve, and anywhere could be his/her fishing ground. No more fixed fishing rules, regulations, policies and guidelines; Where to fish? How to fish? When to fish? What to fish? Why we fish? What a fish! It is now "fish(deal) & chips($)"! He/she is now all of the above; the reason to fish, responsible for every move & action, prepared to accept every outcome & consequence. No more company "safety nets", but opens up to the whole wide world of unlimited fishing risk & returns. He/she utilizes a variety of modern fishing lines and nets to fish; i.e. classified ad lines, listing on-line, flyer lines, poster lines, phone lines, search on-line, marketing buzz lines, internet website, prospect networking, agent networking, banker networking, marketing network, wireless network, telecommunication network….
He/she pays an immediate price by choice to become a "modern-day fisherman", to pursue long-term rewards and instant joy, freedom & satisfaction. He/she used to/is about to do stuff mainly because he/she has to, now, he/she does it because he/she wants to! Modern day fishing is not just about making big $, but a great ground to build meaningful network, solid friendship, and staying physically/mentally healthy!
His/her immediate challenge is to fish enough to support his/her simplified life. He/she is going into this with a clear objective of building a "career lifestyle"; meaning creating a business around the life he/she chooses to live within his/her comfortable means, not allowing work to dictate how he/she leads his/her life.
A modern day fisherman is a business, not a job! He/she doesn’t get paid, he/she reaps returns and experiences losses! It requires 100% dedication, 100% commitment,100% focus, 100% ownership.
He/she can't control change, but thankfully, he/she could learn to manage change, given time. In his/her era, changes are fast becoming a constant, and attempting to resist it is suicidal. In the open sea, the modern-day fisherman survives thru taking on constant changes everyday....
"LUCK" is never in his/her plan, and he/she accepts it as a bonus if it comes by. Hard-work with smart-play to increase probability (raise number of effective fishing trips) is the only sure path to fun & rewarding fishing career!
There can only be one career pick, and for him/her, he/she chooses to be a "modern-day fisherman", taking full control of his own destiny, and being the author of his/her own life!
